It’s Selfie Sunday!
Selfie Sunday is a brand new thing that I just invented all by myself. Nobody has ever done this before. Selfie Sunday is when I post a selfie on a Sunday. I have trademarked this, and nobody else in the world can do it unless you send me $500 (jkjkjk, I totally did not invent this at all but please still send me $500).
In running news: my heel feels better. Still a tiny bit weird? Not terrible but not totally fine? It might be okay to run on. I’ve been stretching it a lot. HOWEVER, it’s raining today. So I took the same Hatha Yoga class I did last week. It was good! We had a different instructor this week and I think we did more leg stuff to last week’s more arm stuff. It was intense where it needed to be, relaxing where it needed to be, and I think I got a solid little 90-minute workout. My thighs are still burning. This is a good thing.
But back to selfies.
In 2010, I did a photo project called 365 Days which involved me taking a photo of myself every single day for a year. This was a “thing” people on flickr were doing at the time (and possibly still are – I don’t really go on flickr much these days). Back then, flickr was a very social community – a Twitter for photographers, if you will – and as a decent-but-not-expertly-skilled photographer, I wanted to give myself a challenge to improve my photography and editing skills, keep a year streak going, be creative, and have fun. I learned so much that year and am proud of my little collection.
When I joined instagram in early 2011, I decided it would be a mostly selfie-free zone. I have nothing against selfies in general, I was just burnt out. I was sick of my dumb face. I wanted to see what I could accomplish while pointing the camera away from myself.
Lately, I’ve decided to not be so precious about it anymore and started incorporating selfies into my running pics using my phone, mostly. (The above pic was taken with my Nikon.) I’m at a point where, for the first time in a while, I feel really good about myself and the way I look. It feels good to feel this way! I highly recommend it to everyone.
SO POST YOUR SELFIES! LIVE IT UP! LIFE IS SHORT! ALSO NOTHING MATTERS AND ONE DAY THE EARTH WILL EXPLODE IN A BALL OF FIRE!
