No running took place in week 6.
While I did make an attempt on Sunday after I took the below photo (in light rain, which I genuinely love to run in), I didn’t get more than a few seconds in before calling it off. My right heel still hurt too much, for reasons I still don’t understand.

And then there was week 5.
Week 5 started out shaky, had a promising middle, and ended terribly. I suppose “terribly” is relative. I’m not injured, I can walk with zero issues, I still have food to eat and a roof over my head, and I think I’m mentally sound (although this is questionable). As far as marathon training goes, it was not a great week.

Week 4 of training was supposed to go up in mileage from the week before, and it did, but only by a mile – a sore heel on Sunday eliminated that day’s planned run.

Week 3 was what we call a “down week,” which in this case means I chose to run three fewer miles than the week before – not exactly a big drop in mileage, but it also didn’t feel harder than week 2.
